How to Stop Windows 8 “Maintenance in Progress”

How to Stop “Maintenance in Progress” in Windows 8

This is always a ridiculous task. I just want to get rid of this because it is troubling me. Apparently, you need to change a few settings.

Follow these steps:
  • Click the lower-left corner to open the Start screen.
  • Type Schedule tasks in the Start screen.
  • Click Settings.
  • Click Schedule tasks.
  • Go to Task Scheduler Library → Microsoft → Windows → TaskScheduler.
  • Right-click Regular Maintenance.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the Settings tab.
  • Check the box Allow task to be run on demand.
  • Click OK.
  • Right-click Regular Maintenance again to test whether it is running, and click Run.
  • Right-click Regular Maintenance again and click End to stop the process.

Now the maintenance icon should be removed from the taskbar.
